WATCH eChalk Use Agreement

 

 

 

The WATCH High School provides students and staff parents and the members of the public access  All users must share the responsibility for seeing that WATCH eChalk is used in an effective, efficient, ethical, and lawful manner.  It is a privilege to have access to these extraordinary resources, and therefore, all users must agree that they will comply with these guidelines.  

 

POLICY

 

When using the WATCH eChalk site

  1. I agree to use the WATCH eChalk only for lawful and School related or School -appropriate purposes.  I agree not to use WATCH eChalk for illegal, inappropriate, discriminatory, hateful, or obscene purposes, or in support of such activities.
  2. I will display appropriate conduct if I send e-mail; I will respect the rights and privacy of others:

 

    1. Messages sent to anyone through WATCH eChalk will be signed with first and last name.
    2. Only appropriate language that is not abusive, discriminatory, hateful, profane, or offensive will be used for all e-mail.  I will not engage in activities, which are prohibited under local, state, or federal law.
    3. I will not use WATCH eChalk in such a way that would disrupt the use of the network by other users or crash the system.
    4. I will respect the legal protection provided by copyright license to programs, books, data, articles, photography, artwork, etc.
    5. I understand that I have no expectation of privacy in the use of the WATCH eChalk network, electronic mail, or Department of Education computers.  I agree that the Department of Education reserves the right to monitor every user’s use of WATCH eChalk and such monitoring may lead to discovery that I violated this Agreement and/or Department of Education policy.  All items contained in the WATCH eChalk network are subject to review.  I acknowledge that the Department of Education will fully and completely cooperate with any local, state, or federal agency that is investigating any activities arising from the use of the WATCH eChalk.  I know that any violation of this Agreement or the Department of Education policy shall result in discipline or legal action being taken against me.
    6. I will adhere to WATCH eChalk printing, file saving, and e-mail distribution guidelines.

RULES

  1. Be polite.  Abusive messages to others are strictly prohibited.
  2. Use appropriate language.  Do not swear, use vulgarities or any other inappropriate language. 
  3. Do not reveal your personal address or phone number or those of students and/or colleagues.
  4. Note that electronic mail (e-mail) is not guaranteed to be private.  People who operate the system have access to all mail.  Messages relating to or in support of illegal activities shall be reported to the authorities.
  5. Do not use the WATCH eChalk in such a way that you would disrupt the use of the WATCH eChalk by other users.
  6. All communications and information accessible via the WATCH eChalk should be assumed to be the WATCH eChalk private property.
  7. Students/users will utilize WATCH eChalk for educational purposes only. 
  8. Students/users will not access, upload or download obscene, sexually explicit, defamatory, or inappropriate material.
  9. Students/users will not delete any files, or modify the settings of the WATCH eChalk 
  10. Students/users will not violate copyright, or otherwise use another person’s intellectual property without proper citation.

 

VIOLATION OF POLICY AND RULES

All individuals, who violate the policy and procedures for WATCH eChalk whether or not they have signed the Technology Use Agreement, will be subject to disciplinary action and/or legal action.  This includes but is not limited to, warning, parental notification, criminal prosecution and/or monetary restitution.
